Blood bank

The “Centro Hematológico de Mexicali” (Mexicali Hematological Center) operates within Almater Hospital since 1994. This is the first blood bank that offers its service inside a private hospital. The Centro Hematológico has the capacity to provide blood and its by products with absolute integrity and efficiency year round.

In many cases, the treatment of a patient requires the use of blood. Besides the importance of having it always at hand, it is essential for patient and donor to have the certainty that the procedure will be done in accordance with the strictest norms of quality and sterility.

The products and services offered at the Centro Hematológico de Mexicali are:

- Whole blood and eritrocite concentrate
- Fresh frozen plasma
- Concentrated platelets
- Cryoprecipitates
- Classification of donors and receptors
- Compatibility tests
- Phlebotomies
        

We also have Plateletpheresis and Plasmapheresis services using the Baxter CS3000 Plus technology, that allows us to obtain platelettes and plasma from a donor with a frequency of every three days if necessary, without major risk to the donor or receiver. We also have the ability to obtain blood byproducts, with a yield of almost ten times the donated blood.

Our personnel is certified by the “Centro Nacional de Transfusión Sanguínea” and is supervised by a hematologist physician certified by the Mexican Board of Hematology.
